We are pleased to advise you that once again we have successfully passed our Adventure Activities Licensing Safety Audit.
We were delighted to work with the expert auditors and technical advisors from AdventureMark. Our registration is already up on the WorkSafe website and certification is available to be viewed by all interested parties. First Step Outdoors is happy to announce that they are working with the Graeme Dingle Foundation once again to run the Drop Your Boss fundraising event.
Bosses abseil the Deloittes building in Hamilton to raise money for this wonderful charity - helping kiwi kids. So if you know a boss or are a boss - go and get dropped (not in real terms of course!!) Kate and her instructors at First Step Outdoors were amazing. They demonstrated patience and perseverance with my class of year 4 students. They were so encouraging that we had 100% achievement for students on the abseiling wall. Thank you Kate and team. We had a great day. Michelle Chettleburgh, Deputy Principal, Te Pahu School. FIRST STEP OUTDOORS - we were proud to sponsor an Award for
Graeme Dingle Foundation Waikato - Excellence Awards: Outstanding participation from a year nine student in STARS - Jarrod Leslie, Fairfield College. Excerpt from MC’s speech introducing Jarrod FYI Our outstanding year nine for this year has provided great support and encouragement towards others during STARS lessons and even offers to help out his Peer mentors. He has fully participated in the programme from Day 1, offering ideas and opinions, and taking part in all activities. Some of these activities included some major challenges such as Caving, Rockclimbing and abseiling. This student is always willing to give things ago with a positive attitude to encourage others. He has increased in self-confidence and is really developing the ability to speak to both people he knows well and not so well. He always works to the very best of his ability which is why Jarrod Leslie receives tonight’s award for Outstanding participation from a year nine student in STARS. Pokarakara for Jarrod. Well done Jarred - you are amazing! Kate :) I have been speaking to some of the teacher's that use us and a common theme that we are noticing are the lower decile school students who turn up for our activities without the correct warm clothing.
So we thought we could put this out and share it around - if you have any old thermals, fleeces, beanies, or rain jackets etc. we would love to get them off you and store them for when students appear to adventure in just a t-shirt! We are also on the look-out for any old overalls - another way of keeping students cleaner/warmer in the cave environment! So if you can help - please let us know - [email protected] and share this - we would love to hear from you! thanks! FSO Team A while ago we posted that we could deliver the Climb and Abseil Leader National Certificate in Outdoor Recreation (Leadership) Level 3. We are now working in conjunction with a few other training and assessment deliverers and can offer: Outdoor First Aid (inc 424) Level 4 Tramp Instructor Level 3 Bush Leader See flyer for more details! http://wbn.co.nz/2016/06/23/giving-back/
